How Much Pomegranate Juice Should I Drink?
Pomegranate juice may be able to help reduce hardening of the arteries, improve blood flow to the heart, and help reduce cholesterol. One study suggests that an intake of 8 oz. of pomegranate juice per day may improve blood flow to the heart (Am J Cardiol 2005;96:810–814). Another study concluded that just 6 oz. per day of pomegranate juice reduced risk for hardening of the arteries (Atherosclerosis August 2006). Healthy Balance Pomegranate juice contains 22% of a pure juice blend, which is a healthy amount considering the low-calorie profile of the product. Keep in mind that most full-calorie juice cocktails, cranberry for example, contain just 12-16% cranberry juice. Old Orchard puts its juice content on all of its juice cocktail products right above the nutrition label, so in this case it’s easy to compare pure juice amounts.
Since there is limited research on reduced calorie juices and their impact on disease risk, I can’t definitively say how much you should drink per day. However, I would recommend continuing to drink a few glasses of Health Balance Pomegranate juice per day in conjunction with a diet high in fruits, vegetables, whole grains and low fat dairy.Login to Favorite
