Pilates-Strength or Cardio?
While you may feel like your heart is really pumping when you are engaged in a pilates routine, it is mainly a strengthening activity. In order to be considered “cardio” you need to get your heart rate elevated within your target heart range (40-80% of your maximum depending on fitness level) and keep it elevated for at least 10 minutes. To find out what your target heart rate is subtract your age from 220 and multiply that number by 60-80% for moderately active individuals. So, if you are a moderately active 40 year old.
