I like Ruby Red Grapefruit Healthy Balance and I would like to know why some doctors say not to drink grapefruit juice or eat grapefruit with prescription meds and over the counter like aspirin or acetaminophen and etc.? What about vitamins? What meds should be avoided? I have given up grapefruit and grapefruit juice for now until I find out if I can eat or drink it safely?

There are certain chemicals in grapefruit juice that can change the absorption pattern of various medications and may lead to excessively and dangerously high levels of medications in the blood. Various medications can include ones for depression, immunosuppressant drugs, calcium channel blocker for high blood pressure, anti-seizure medication, HIV medication etc. I suggest that you stop drinking grapefruit juice until you have seen your doctor or pharmacist. He or she can review your medication/vitamin list and advise you on whether or not to continue to stay away from grapefruit juice.
