What is the best juice?

I am not sure if I can pick one “best” juice to answer your question. Personally, Old Orchard’s Healthy Balance Juice (Cranberry Apple) is my “best” because it tastes great and is low in calories and sugar, which helps me to stay at a healthy weight. But other people may feel differently. Some feel that cranberry juice is “best”. Cranberry juice may also have several health benefits. It has a high amount of vitamin C, which can be helpful in breaking down/eliminating kidney stones. In addition, the acidic nature of cranberry juice may help prevent oral bacteria formation, which can reduce gum disease and plaque. Finally, cranberry juice contains increased amounts of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, which may help reduce incidence of cancer and heart disease.

One hundred percent grape juice may also be best! Grape juice may help lower bad cholesterol and help to reduce risk of blood clots. It also contains increased amounts of the antioxidant resveratrol, which has been hypothesized to help lower risk of some cancer. However, I remind my patients that, while 100% grape juice may be good for their overall health, it still contains increased amount of calories and (natural) sugar. Healthy Balance Grape juice drink is different from 100% grape juice in that it contains a significantly lower amount of sugar and calories (only 35 calories per 8 oz.). While the Healthy Balance juice does not contain the same amount of pure grape juice as the 100% grape juice, it does contain 100% of your daily requirement for vitamin C, which is an important antioxidant for our body.

Another great juice option is pomegranate juice. Pomegranate juice (and other juices high in antioxidants such as blueberry, cranberry, orange, grape, tart cherry etc.) can be a healthy addition to your diet. It is filled with disease fighting antioxidants. Studies have suggested that pomegranate juice can help reduce artery clogging plaque buildup, reduce blood pressure, and improve heart health. In various research studies, scientists hypothesized that antioxidant filled juices can help improve blood flow in the arteries, therefore helping lower risk of heart disease.

Finally, Old Orchard’s Very Cherre juice is a fabulous “best” juice for lots of reasons. Cherry juice has been hypothesized to help reduce inflammation associated with arthritis. Cherry juice contains chemicals called antioxidants, which possess anti-inflammatory qualities. The antioxidants may help reduce the presence of uric acid and nitric oxide, which can contribute to inflammation and pain around the joints. And, 100% tart cherry juice may even help improve sleep and memory for some people!
