Poached Pears

  • 4 whole pears
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 cup fresh raspberries
  • 1/4 cup apple juice
  • 2 Tbsp. orange zest
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. ground nutmeg


  1. In a small bowl, combine orange juice, apple juice, cinnamon and nutmeg, stirring until evenly mixed.
  2. Peel the pears, but leave the stems, and remove core from bottom.
  3. Place pears in a shallow saucepan; add juice mixture.
  4. Simmer about 30 minutes over medium heat, turning pears frequently (do not boil).
  5. Garnish pears with raspberries and orange zest; serve immediately.
